Shown to improve urinary function in men with enlarged prostate
Evidence suggests it may reduce or slow hair loss in men
May promote strong immune function
Proven to support healthy cholesterol levels
Beta sitosterol supports prostate health. Clinical research reports
improvement in urinary symptoms and urinary flow in men with enlarged
prostate and evidence suggests it may reduce or slow hair loss with
age. There is preliminary research indicating that beta sitosterol may
have unique immune support functions, particularly for colon health.
A plant sterol, beta sitosterol is similar in chemical structure to
cholesterol in animal products, but instead of increasing cholesterol
levels, it helps decrease cholesterol levels. It works by inhibiting
absorption of cholesterol from food in the intestinal tract. Aside from
avoiding cholesterol-rich foods in the diet, reducing absorbing in the
intestines is the most natural way to manage healthy levels. Beta
sitosterol is one of the sterol nutrients approved by the FDA to be
added to margarines to support health cholesterol levels.
Complementary Prescriptions™ offers 100 mg of Beta Sitosterol in
vegetarian capsules, along with hesperidin bioflavonoid concentrate for
additional vascular support.
1-3 capsules taken over the day is the amount given to men in
research evaluating prostate and urinary health. More capsules can be
taken for cholesterol support*. Best taken with meals.
Supplementing with Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) has been shown to:
Help prevent weight gain
Decrease abdominal fat
Increase metabolic rate
Enhance muscle growth
Promote cardiovascular health
Enhance immune function
The weight loss mechanisms of CLA are still being explored. Proposed mechanisms include decreased food intake, increased energy expenditure, decreased pre-fat cell development, blocking of fat cell proliferation and increased fat burning (lipolysis).
The body fat-reducing properties of CLA have been tested in numerous human clinical trials Scandinavian human weight loss trials conducted over the past eight years have recorded significant body fat loss with doses ranging from 1.8 grams to 4 grams of CLA per day.
The most recent (2007) CLA weight loss study was conducted at the University of Wisconsin, where research into CLA first began. In a 6 month study to prevent holiday weight gain, 3.2 grams of CLA was given to volunteers for 6 months. Body weight was measured during the pre-holiday season and post-holiday season. A six month change in body composition was improved with CLA compared to placebo and the study concluded that CLA supplementation among overweight adults significantly reduced body fat over 6 months and prevented weight gain during the holiday season. CLA did not affect insulin resistance, blood lipids or markers of liver function. The overwhelming conclusion of a huge variety of clinical trials around the world proves that CLA works to reduce body fat and favorably changes the ratio of body fat-to-muscle ratio.
Zinc is an essential nutrient for good health, functioning in nearly
100 different enzyme systems in the body. Adequate zinc levels are
crucial for proper gene expression, for normal growth and metabolism,
for protein synthesis, wound healing, immune function and reproductive
health.
Zinc Oral Solution provides a simple method for evaluating zinc
nutritional status. Simply place a small amount (10 ml, approximately 2
teaspoons) in the mouth and hold for 30 seconds. If little or no taste
is perceived, zinc status may be low. An immediate or strong taste
perception suggests that zinc status may be adequate. For best results,
use periodically to monitor zinc status.
